Denbighshire county council have been using location based augmented reality to enhance tourism in the region since we built their first app in 2011.
As well as being able to locate historic points of interest, there are videos of local people, audio guides to monuments and special places, and social tie-ins to let people share their favourite places.
There are also around thirty historic photographs of the region, taken some 100 years ago in the places they can now be found using the Discover Denbighshire app.
“I have been really happy with the work and the professional way Media Grand have handled this project.” Peter McDermott, Denbighshire County Council.
The app runs from a customised CMS to provide easy management of the points of interest, multi-lingual content and full user tracking and analytics.
Denbighshire County Council are using AR to promote tourism across the county, including videos of local people, historic photographs shown in the place they were taken some 100 years ago, and hundreds of points of interest. The content is managed via a bespoke content management system.
